Asphalt Patching — Auckland & North Shore

Precision saw-cut patching, utility reinstatements, and commercial patch repairs. Clean edges, proper bonding, and professional compaction — every time.

Professional Asphalt Patching Services

When a full resurface isn't needed, precision patching restores your asphalt surface — done right, it should be nearly invisible

Utility Reinstatements

After plumbing, electrical, or gas work cuts through your driveway or car park, we reinstate the surface to match. Proper compaction in lifts prevents future settlement — the #1 cause of failed utility patches.

  • Compaction in 100–150mm lifts
  • Tack coat bonding to existing edges
  • Match existing surface level and texture

Saw Cutting & Preparation

Clean, straight saw-cut edges are the hallmark of a professional patch. We cut back to sound asphalt, remove failed material, and prepare a clean bonding surface — no jagged edges, no feathered thin sections that will fail.

  • Diamond-blade saw cutting
  • Removal of all loose material
  • Base inspection and remediation

Hotmix Installation

We use hot-mix asphalt — the same material used for new road construction — not cold patch from a bag. Hotmix bonds properly, compacts to a dense finish, and lasts. For commercial and council-specification work, hotmix is the only acceptable standard.

  • Hot-mix from certified asphalt plants
  • Appropriate mix design for application
  • Laid and compacted while still hot

Commercial Patching

Retail car parks, industrial yards, school grounds, church parking — we handle commercial-scale patching with minimal disruption to your operations. Out-of-hours work available for businesses that can't close during the day.

  • Large-area patch repairs
  • Traffic management if required
  • Weekend and after-hours scheduling

The Patching Process

A methodical approach that ensures a permanent, barely-visible repair

1

Mark & Saw Cut

Mark the patch area with straight lines extending at least 100mm into sound asphalt. Diamond-blade saw cut to full depth for clean, vertical edges that provide a strong bonding surface.

2

Remove Failed Material

Excavate damaged asphalt and any failed base material. Inspect the sub-base — if it's soft, wet, or poorly compacted, we remediate before proceeding. A good patch starts with a good foundation.

3

Apply Tack Coat

A thin, even coat of bitumen emulsion (tack coat) is applied to all vertical edges and the base. This bonds the new hotmix to the existing asphalt — without it, the patch will separate and fail along the joint.

4

Install & Compact Hotmix

Fresh hot-mix asphalt is placed and levelled slightly proud of the surrounding surface. Mechanical compaction (plate compactor or roller) compresses the material to match the existing level. Proper compaction is critical — under-compacted patches will sink within months.
